Where do I start?

God as I understand him. This whole concept is fraught with danger.

To early AA this concept was just an expedient. Let them try with a toe in the water. For AA that made sense. AA is pragmatic. As long as something keeps you sober who cares? After all, this is just mental gymnastics, right? Or God is not picky about names. Right? In the marketplace of spiritual stuff as long as it works is really all that matters. What could go wrongs? The only argument that worked for me for years was the progression argument. If you started with a light bulb you would find God eventually. I know I am being a bit snarky, but really at the bottom, there is the belief that the name did not matter. You just shopped for the best deal in the spiritual marketplace. In much of the Christian circles of liberal churches, this is very acceptable. Really liberal churches are the best buy for casual shoppers. In this arrangement, buyers drive the market. You can haggle over the product.
After all, because he loves us He is obligated to meet our preferences. Codependent much!
