I recognize that this Holy Spirit thing can be a dangerous snare. Everybody has an opinion and a preference. But biblically we can agree that some experience called the infilling of the Spirit is mentioned in Acts. At that time it was marked by speaking in tongues. At that point tongues were miraculous. People listening heard them in their own language. That is the biblical record. And biblically coming to Jesus and the baptism in the Spirit were joined together. We can argue about the details of salvation. but the fact exists that salvation and baptism were attached together, There was a baptism of repentance. I will attempt to keep from getting into the weeds here. In many cases coming to a relationship with Jesus and the baptism of the Holy Ghost were attached. It is also related in Acts that this experience and the birth of the church were at the same time. What else the biblical account says is the group was in prayer and of one accord. Forgive the snide comment, but this is a miraculous occurrence. How many churches are in one accord on anything? You also read they were praising God.

Now you have some important ingredients for a revival of the Spirit. People need to come to Jesus and get saved by the power of the Spirit. People need to learn to worship and Praise God. And they need to pray together until they are in one accord. So revival in the Spirit is not magic, but it is encouraged by devotion to certain principles.

There are certain things that can encourage a move of the Spirit as are there certain weather conditions that can enhance the chance of tornadoes. In like manner, there are certain conditions that make the move of the Spirit more difficult. In my next podcast, I will talk about these inhibitors of the Spirit.
