I have argued that the common denominator between groups like recovery and faith is the human thing. I think the disagreement is about what human means and what faith means.

We may be able to agree to be human is about being unique and fallible at the same time. The spectrum runs from self-giving sacrifice to appalling selfish cruelty. Human is a spectrum of behavior. We all benefit from one extreme and suffer from the other. The paradox is we can be a mixture of all of it.

Both faith and recovery are in the business of dealing with all the people. Both groups rely on the givers and attempt to care for and survive the others.

This is what faith and recovery have in common. We both have to dance the delicate dance of cultivating the better angels of our character and finding ways to protect ourselves from the darker angels.

Many have difficulty dealing with this bipolar view of folks. This difficulty is a major explanation of the issues of the day.

My next podcast is an effort to clear the fog of confusion that keeps us confused.

Anyone who has lived a while knows the fact that all people are not inherently good. But you can find folks who are just bad.

Here is where you can see bible wisdom. Mercy is for the repentant person. Wrath is for the unrepentant.

That statement most likely offended most folks.

But life proves the point. Whatever your stand we must accept there are sheep and wolves close by. Humans are like that.
