I read in the book ‘Make Noise and a creators Guide to Podcasting’ by Eric Nuzum about podcasts that you need to be able to condense your goal into ten words. So here are the ten words. Educate & Encourage at the Junction of Faith & Recovery.
What do I mean by this? People come to this junction of Faith and Recovery from different directions. The person in secular recovery like AA finds sobriety in AA ie Recovery but wanders aimlessly searching for meaning in the spiritual world with its many choices and voices. For this person, we want to give information and encouragement. We may have a significant person searching for help for a loved one. When I owned and ran a sober house I talked with many parents of addicts and drunks who were anguished over their child who was lost in the morass of addiction. And thru all the years of my sobriety and service work, I saw the haphazard search for spiritual closure. More often than not I saw hostility toward what is known as the Gospel. Often these folks would go an easier path into seemingly easier simple faith. I want to at least make a cogent respectful argument for the biblical Christian faith. I want to encourage and educate both sides about the other side. I want to defuse the hostility toward bible-based faith. On both sides are broken people and families who have been scarred by the ravages of addiction and trauma. I want to reach out in the name of the Lord to the wounded who were caught under the treads of dimwitted practitioners of both recovery and faith. Encouragement and Education are my goals for anyone struggling with life at the junction of faith and recovery. Follow the podcast, Lazarus Recovery Podcast.
