Doing the Lazarus Recovery Podcast is forcing me to organize and focus and be organized. So what I am going to do is share the process with you all. You can leave comments and suggestions. The goal is to build the podcast during the week and publish it on Monday or the weekend. That way you can see how the sausage is made. And you can share the content and details of production.
My thinking is to create content for folks like I was for much of my middle recovery. I found Jesus at 2 -3 years sober. From then on I felt like an orphan. I was a sober drunk and a baby Christian. I was nursing at the breast of AA and the Church. I was looking for a home to get the nourishment that satisfied both needs. And my folks were in a bad marriage. AA would make it perfectly clear this Jesus thing was not universally loved. And the church where I went was down on this God as I understand Him thing. I looked for content that at least made a truce between the competing factions. In a way, I was a kid growing up in a bad marriage.
So I want to bridge the gap. I want a place where we can come and hear good recovery and nourishing scripture within arm’s length. I am saying to both parents. Shut up and get along for the benefit of the kids. Is it so bad to have the kids sober and clean and safe in faith that works for them?
My first effort is going to be on gratitude. A favorite meeting topic in AA is gratitude or an attitude of gratitude. So this week I will post on this topic. If you have a comment please share. You can have a part in this weekend’s podcast. The blog is on the website lazarusrecover.org or on Facebook or Twitter.
Let me know if I am getting this computer stuff wrong.
