I am an old guy! I am 75 and I am 47 years sober. I have been in Pentecost for 45 years. I have taught in halfway houses, sober houses, and churches. I have run and helped in a number of Christian recovery programs. I have done some prison ministry. I owned and run a sober house for five years. I have read mountains of material on recovery and Christian subjects. And I am marginally computer literate. And I am retired and get bored easily. So I am thinking of starting a podcast. What do you think? I am asking. I have a friend who got sober the same time I did. Together we have 95 years of recovery from alcohol. Does this have value? I am asking. You can respond to this blog. Or leave contact info at Lazarusrecovery.org. There is some old video on lazarusrecoveryYoutube. You can find me on Facebook, too. Remember I am technically challenged. The best computer you could get when I went to work at BU in 74 was maybe an IBM PC. A mouse was an awesome innovation. So it would be a work in progress.

Here are my thoughts on possible content. Right now the blog is about the junction between faith and recovery. This intersection can be troubled. I would explore this intersection. I really feel there would be value in exchanging information across this divide. Faith and Jesus are important and misunderstood in the recovery community. In like fashion the church community in many areas is almost willfully ignorant about secular recovery. Also, there are issues I run into on staff at CR in the mental health and medication area which get complicated. Recovery is a family business.

Over the years I have found books and resources which work well to address areas of interest and need.

And the whole codependent issue area has come up over the years. I have talked with many parents worried about their child’s addiction. Mostly I can act as a directory to point people to resources.

I am not a pastor, but I am a son of a pastor.

I also can sense the turmoil of facing mysterious issues without the right resources.

I do feel more light can be found if we know the issues and some possible solutions.

But finally, I feel a little honesty would go a long way. I will always tell you the truth as I know it.

And I can guarantee in many cases you wouldn’t like it.

I am opinionated and often short on diplomacy. Is that what?

Let me know! I know I have some house guys from Lazarus House as friends on Facebook. Leave contact info in message or website and I will put you on the list for a release date in Mid February

Thanks, Chuck
